The former Taliban (NYT--requires log-in) roving ambassador who has been attending Yale in a non-degree program has lost his bid to be granted admission to a degree granting program (via Michelle Malkin).
Ah, geez--what a shame. Sayed Rahmatullah Hashemi won't be getting a degree from Yale. I don't know about you but that sure ruins my day.
Vigilant readers may remember that Yale captured one of my nominations for Moonbat of the Year in March of this year when they chose to admit the former misogynist thug Taliban in the non degree program while having previously banned military recruiters to their campus. Apparently the fact that Hashemi only had a high-school equivalency degree was a non-issue as was his past representation for one of the most repressive regimes in the world. You might say that it was one of those classic "no sense makes sense" decisions that universities sometimes make. But that decision earned them some serious bad press from the mainstream media and bloggers. I can't imagine why. And by the way, who the hell decided to grant this guy a visa in the first place?
Alas, it appears that Hashemi must now move on to some other august institution if he wants to get a degree--although apparently he can remain in the non-degree program at Yale for sometime longer. Unless one of our other wacko liberal universities decide to make him an offer, it looks like his pursuit of a degree is over. Too bad. Maybe he'll have to go back to Afghanistan and work some more of his magic there. I wonder if he'll get the same type of welcome Yale gave him.
