I'm back from the original colonies. I think I have most of the population straightened out there now. It's hard to know for sure since I can't understand much of what they say. You would think they would have gotten rid of that strange accent by now. And nobody understood why I was yelling "Go Big Orange" in Fenway. And strange as it sounds, they thought I was the one with the accent. I guess they don't get out much. Here's a quick recap of my trip:
Wednesday--Boston University, Harvard, MIT, Freedom Trail (Old North Church, Paul Revere's house, Old Ironsides, etc), dinner in the North End, a classic Boston cabbie talking about the f------ Yankees as he drove us to Fenway Park, Red Sox vs the A's.
Thursday--Gloucester (Perfect Storm) , the North Shore
Friday--Concord (first shot fired in the Revolutionary War and home of Hawthorne, the Alcotts, and Thoreau), Walden Pond.
Saturday--Newport, R.I. (touring old money homes, America's Cup, Newport Country Club Golf Course, etc)
I have some great photos that I'm going to try and post in an album on this site. That is if I can figure out how to do it again. Meanwhile I'm back in the saddle in Tennessee. The phone is already ringing with pleas of help. Thanks brother--it was terrific.
