BIG BLUE VS THE BIG ORANGE

It's football basketball time in Tennessee.   Number one ranked Memphis faces number two ranked University of Tennessee tomorrow night and it's definitely the biggest basketball game in the history of the state.

For you unfortunate non-Tennesseans out there you should know that the state's geography is such that we break the state down into East, West and Middle Tennessee with those areas being defined collegiately by UT, Memphis and Vanderbilt respectively.  The rivalry between those schools is big but usually it's just about football and since UT routinely cleans the other's clock on the field it's really not that big.

But basketball is different.  For many years Vanderbilt was the class of the state in college basketball but they haven't been that good for a few years now.  So for the last two or three years Memphis has been the class of the state.  Then Bruce Pearl came along to coach the men in orange.  He's made them national championship contenders and as a result the state has the game of the year.  This is like Duke (Duke sucks) playing North Carolina (who also sucks) when they're ranked number one and number two.  It's so big that the national media is taking notice.  And should anyone think this is a fluke please note that the Lady Vols are ranked number three in the nation and coming off a national championship season last year.

My pick?  Well the Big Blue is at home but I gotta go with my homeys the Vols.  If Chris Lofton is hitting from outside it won't be that close.  Let's say 83-80 and in overtime.
