1. For one of the few times this political season I watched a speech by one of the candidates. I chose to watch Hillary's speech on Tuesday night after Obama had won enough delegates to be the presumptive nominee. Rather than concede the nomination she delivered a long speech full of Clintonisms: "I’ve been fighting for you my whole adult life, and I will keep standing for you and working for you every single day." and self-congratulations. I thought it was totally classless. As of this posting she still hasn't conceded.
I've had enough of the Clintons. Bill revealed his true self more and more as his wife's campaign started to falter. I truly think they believe they deserve and own the White House. And I think that the only way Obama will lose the election is by picking her for VP or the economy has a miraculous recovery.
2. Oil prices have slipped a bit of late. I have expected that to happen sooner or later. I truly think the law of supply and demand is going to have a reduction effect because the spike that's occurred this year is going to drive some big changes in consumption of gasoline. In that sense the spike has been a good thing, albeit painful. The fact is we won't change our oil addiction unless it becomes painful enough to do so. It might have reached that point.
3. I've posted on this before but it's time for us to start building nuclear plants and to open up areas for oil explorations that the liberals have managed to legislate as off-limits. If you don't agree with that then don't bitch about high gas prices and let your life continue to be managed by the shieks of the Middle East. And yes, we need to increase alternative forms of energy, hybrid cars, and provide incentives for conservation. In other words all of the above.
4. With just a few rare exceptions I think television really sucks these days and especially television news. I swear that every news shows looks and sounds the same with only the faces changing. And as far as drama or comedy, forget about it. I catch myself watching old reruns of classic shows more than anything. Either that or turn the tube off and read a book. Watching today's television is like taking a sleeping pill. OK, except when Padma is on.
5. So Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, 9/11 mastermind, wants to become a martyr. I can go with that.
