I went 4-1 last week and got the right score in the game I lost. I just had Tennessee winning instead of UCLA. I successfully picked Alabama over Clemson who laid yet another egg in a big game. The unexpected loss the Vols had last week left a sour taste in my mouth. UT clearly had the superior athletes, intercepted UCLA four times, had the lead with 1:54 in the game and lost. That's a coaching problem in most instances. The good news is that the Vols are off this week. I'll count that as a win. Here's my picks of the week:
West Virginia 27, East Carolina 20--EC is coming off a big upset of Virginia Tech last week. They're looking for another one. It won't happen this time. The Mountaineers have too much offense.
Florida 33, Miami 15--The Miami teams of the past could play with anybody but that era is gone. This games is at the Swamp and it's going to feel like just that to the Hurricanes. Not close. Hurricanes get downgraded to a tropical storm.
Mississippi 24, Wake Forest 23--My upset special of the week. The ACC slides further into oblivion. ACC football is as bad as SEC football is good.
Oklahoma 33, Cincinnati 17--I think the Sooners are definitely a top five team and might have a chance at playing for the national championship in January. They look like championship material in this game.
Utah 38, UNLV 10--Some pundits said that Utah shocked the Michigan Wolverines in Rich Rodriguez's home opener. Sound familiar? But don't underestimate the Utes. They're a very good team, especially offensively. It wasn't a suprise to me. Look for them in a big bowl if they beat BYU in their last game.
