MY DEBATE GRADES AND A SUGGESTION

I watched the debate last night.  I could have spent my time better sleeping.

I have reached the point where I totally hate listening to any politician.  First off they rarely, if ever, answer the question asked.  If they answer the question, it's with generalities and a lot of statements like "we need to fix this" or "we've got to help the middle class"  or "it's getting harder and harder for Americans".  No shit, guys.  Really?  Glad you told us that.  How about telling us how you plan to fix that and I'll tell you whether I like that idea by my vote?

When they're not doing that they consistently misrepresent each others positions.  They do that so often that when they compare positions there's no credibility.

The fact is they will say or do anything to win the election.  If one of them thinks they might get elected for saying they'll bomb Nova Scotia, then Nova Scotia better build some bomb shelters.  It makes me wonder what is so attractive to them about the job they want.

The media plays a big part in this too.  They have the responsibility to pin these people down and make them answer the question and answer it with specifics.  Both Gwen Ifill and Tom Brokaw failed in that miserably.  They need to focus less on sticking to the format and everyone getting their share of minutes to bullshit talk and more on getting answers.

Here's my grades on last night's debate:  "F".  That's for everybody.  And here's my suggestion for fixing the problem.  The debaters and the moderator have to take truth serum prior to the debate.  No takee, no debatee.  I can see it now:  Brokaw tells Obama he's full of shit after asking him about his association with Reverend Wright .  McCain doubles over in laughter at that.  Then Brokaw asks McCain about the Keating Five.  McCain owns up to his shenanigans about that but then makes fun of Brokaw's lisp.  Hey, at least it would be more interesting.

I'm watching reruns next week.  Any rerun.
