It was a nice long weekend with minimal chores. Spent some time around the pool and just generally relaxed. Finished up my latest Connelly book The Narrows yesterday. Brats on the grill last night. The Mrs. left early this morning on a business trip to Houston so I'm baching it till her return Friday.
Now it's Tuesday following a long weekend and we get a short work week. That's what I call a good schedule. And I'm taking next Monday off too since the Medlocks are headed to Music City on Saturday for the first Titans game of the season on Sunday. I'm going to avoid the bars and strip clubs in the Nashville area on Saturday night. I just don't want to take the risk of getting into an altercation with PacMan Jones and his getting suspended from Sunday's game.
The big news of the weekend past was Steve Irwin's death by stingray. It just seems downright freakish to me. I remember seeing a huge stingray in the aquarium at the Atlantis Hotel in Nassau. It was beautiful but a little bit scary. I know some animal experts called Irwin just a showman but I liked the Crocodile Hunter. It was obvious to me that he loved his work and I used to never miss his shows. It did seem to me that he took some unnecessary chances with snakes at times. Crikey, I hate that this happened. RIP, Steve.
Finally it appears that I've pissed FATHER TIME off yet again. I'm currently nursing a sore right foot, a sore right forearm, a swollen knuckle in my little finger that my wife blames on gout and my allergies are in high gear. I've got a slight limp, I can't even lift a coffee pot in my right hand, I'm having trouble keeping a golf grip with my right hand and my sinuses are plugged. Other than that, every thing's just fine. I can't get in to see the allergy doc until next week and I know I just have to work my way through the other stuff. And tonight is work-out night. That's great. But I can't complain much. I'm alive.
